Why Are Engineering Consultancies Suddenly Checking Their AI Visibility?

Engineering firms are checking their AI presence because tender and referral trust does not transfer to a language model by itself. IBISWorld values the industry at $65.2 billion in 2026, across 45,311 businesses. A principal can test the gap in minutes: type a buying question into ChatGPT and note whether the firm appears.
Three things are happening at once:
- A real skills gap. Consult Australia's 2026 report surveyed 42 member businesses. It found 65% named digital, data and AI skills the top emerging skills gap.
- An untested blind spot. Knowing the skills gap exists is different from testing what AI engines say about your firm.
- A confusing keyword. The search in the first bullet above shows buyers meet engineering firms, not marketing partners.
This article covers agencies that optimise an engineering firm's own AI presence. It does not cover agencies to hire for an engineering project.
What Should an Engineering Consultancy Look for in an AEO Agency?

A firm should judge an AEO agency on five things. This separates a genuine AEO practice from a search engine optimisation (SEO) retainer that added three letters to its homepage.
- A named, documented AEO or generative engine optimisation service, not a paragraph added to an SEO page. All five agencies compared below pass this test.
- A stated method for engineering-grade content. AI engines can check verifiable credentials and technical specifications. Generic marketing copy cannot carry them.
- Published measurement. The agency should say which AI platforms it tracks and how often. A visibility score built on someone else's prompt set measures someone else's business.
- Price transparency. Two of the five list prices on their own sites, which is unusual in this category.
- Sector adjacency. Look for direct experience with technical, regulated or credential-heavy clients, even outside engineering.
How Do the Five Agencies Compare?
We found no engineering specialist among the five. We checked each agency's AEO page, and any case study list, for engineering-consultancy work on 21 October 2026 and found none.
| Agency | Base | Named AEO or GEO service | Price on own site | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Uprise Digital | Cremorne, Melbourne | Yes | No, scoped per project | A firm that wants set sectors in building, energy and government |
| ADMATIC | Melbourne | Yes | No | A firm that wants a clear, repeatable process |
| ONETOO | Mornington, Victoria | Yes | Yes, tier ranges | A firm wanting a specialist across five AI engines and known price tiers |
| Myoho Marketing | Melbourne | Yes | No | A firm whose main problem is credentials and entity data, not content volume |
| Intelligent Resourcing | Melbourne | Yes | Yes, from $3,200 a month plus GST | A firm wanting a named AI share-of-voice result |
The list is grouped by pricing model, with sector adjacency deciding the order inside each group. We own Intelligent Resourcing, so we put it last and judged it on the same five tests as the rest.
Which Agencies Keep Pricing Behind a Call?
Three agencies list no rate on the pages we checked. They differ on sector focus, method and proof.
Uprise Digital: Closest Stated Sectors
Uprise Digital is a Melbourne performance marketing and AI search agency in Cremorne. Its own 2026 roundup of AEO agencies ranks Uprise first, so read it as self-description.
That page names law, professional services (including property consultants and advisers), construction and energy as core sectors. The site also lists industry pages for builders and for government and public sector. Its AEO work covers entity consistency, answer-led content, structured data and mention building, tested monthly across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. It cites one AI result of its own: AI Smart Glass, which it says is the first business ChatGPT lists for smart film installation.
Price: varies per project, month to month with no lock-in contract.
Best for: a firm that wants a working method in adjacent technical and professional sectors, even without engineering proof.
Gap: the case studies named on that page include no engineering consultancy, and no price is listed.
ADMATIC: A Documented Framework
ADMATIC runs a combined SEO, AEO and GEO programme from Melbourne, with Sydney and Auckland pages as well. Its Melbourne page lists a 104-point technical audit, an AEO Foundation Audit, GEO content, backlinks and monthly reporting. It delivers them through a framework it calls 6 Signals, run across four phases. Its client logos include BHP, Komatsu and Stramit, but the page ties none of them to AEO work.
Price: not listed. The page says measurable gains usually arrive 90 to 120 days after its first two phases.
Best for: a full-service firm that wants a repeatable, auditable process rather than a bespoke content programme.
Gap: a proprietary framework is hard to judge from outside, so ask what each of the 6 Signals measures before signing.
Myoho Marketing: Schema and Entity Focus
Myoho Marketing is a Melbourne agency with separate AEO and GEO service lines, plus white-label services. Its own AEO page says the work combines schema, entity hygiene and evidence-backed copy. The aim is citations in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Google AI Overviews. Its site lists two case studies, MD Health and Good Talent Media, and we found no engineering consultancy among them.
Price: not listed, and its AEO page gives no timeline figure.
Best for: a firm whose main AI-presence problem is representing qualifications and project credentials as machine-readable entities.
Gap: no engineering-sector proof and no price on the pages we checked.
Which Agencies List Their Prices?

Two agencies list prices on their own sites. One of them is ours, so it comes last.
ONETOO: A Specialist With Published Tiers
ONETOO is a Mornington, Victoria studio. Its own AEO page calls it an AEO and GEO agency in Melbourne that specialises in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Claude. It says it tracks share of voice monthly. Its published work list is mostly brand and design projects.
Price: listed on its AEO page as an $8,000 to $15,000 one-off audit, then $4,000 to $15,000-plus a month. It says results compound over 3 to 6 months, with quick wins in 30 to 60 days.
Best for: a firm that wants a specialist across five engines and wants price tiers known up front.
Gap: we found no engineering-sector AEO proof on the page, and the visible work is brand and design.
Intelligent Resourcing: A Named Share-of-Voice Result
Intelligent Resourcing is a Melbourne AEO and GEO agency. Its July 2026 Kynection case study reports a 20.9% AI share of voice and first place in its category. It drew on 198 buyer prompts and 71 focused pages. We found no other agency here that publishes a named AI share-of-voice result.
Price: a $2,500 Strategic Blueprint audit, then two retainer tiers that start at $3,200 and $3,700 a month. Prices are in Australian dollars and exclude GST.
Best for: a firm that weighs a measured track record above direct sector experience, since we found none here with the latter.
Gap: it names no engineering consultancy client, the same gap every other entry carries.
Which Agency Fits Which Type of Engineering Consultancy?
Responsive's 2025 buyer report surveyed 350 business-to-business buyers. One in three use AI chatbots to surface vendors, and nine in ten research before speaking to one. Responsive sells response management software, so read it as vendor research.
A Sole-Discipline Structural or Geotechnical Practice
A smaller firm should compare the two published price lists first. Intelligent Resourcing starts at $3,200 a month and ONETOO at $4,000. Or ask Myoho Marketing to scope entity work alone.
A Multi-Discipline Consultancy Already on Tender Panels
A firm already competing for government and institutional work has enough content volume and credential depth. ADMATIC's audit-first framework or Uprise Digital's broader programme will fit.
A Firm About to Pitch for Its First Major Government Tender
This is the moment proof matters most. Ask every shortlisted agency for a reference in a comparable regulated or credential-heavy sector, since we found none in engineering.
What Should You Fix Before You Brief Any Agency?

Referrals built most engineering firms, and referrals do not read a credential. AI engines check what can be verified publicly. That is a different proof problem from the one most firms have spent 20 years solving.
Run this 3-step baseline before you brief anyone:
- Put your firm name and your most common tender question into ChatGPT and Perplexity.
- Note which competitors get named instead of you.
- Check whether your RPEQ, CPEng or National Engineering Register (NER) listing appears anywhere a model could find it.
That baseline is the only way to judge whether an agency's proposal closes your actual gap.
What Should You Ask Every Agency?
Ask each agency on your shortlist the same four questions. The answers show who has a real method.
- Which AI engines do you test, and how often? Ask for the list in writing.
- Who picks the prompts? The firm should choose the buyer questions, not the agency.
- What will you change on my site in the first 30 days? Look for credentials, schema and project pages.
- Can I speak to a client in a technical field? We found no engineering proof here, so ask for the closest match.
Who Should Pick Which Agency?
The five fit different firms. Budget, sector adjacency and a need for proof decide which one.
- Uprise Digital suits a firm that wants stated construction, energy and government sectors behind the work.
- ADMATIC suits a full-service firm that wants an auditable, repeatable framework.
- ONETOO suits a firm that wants an AEO specialist and price tiers known up front.
- Myoho Marketing suits a firm whose main problem is credentials, not content volume.
- Intelligent Resourcing fits a firm that values a measured, named AI result over sector experience.
We found no engineering proof at any of the five, so whoever you shortlist, ask for a sector reference in writing.

FAQs
Do engineering consultancies need AEO as well as SEO?
Yes, if AI-researched tenders matter to the firm. ADMATIC says a site can rank well on Google and stay invisible to AI platforms if its six signals are missing. ONETOO says most AEO work also helps SEO, so the two support each other.
How much does AEO cost for an Australian engineering consultancy?
Two agencies list prices on their own sites. ONETOO lists an $8,000 to $15,000 one-off audit and $4,000 to $15,000-plus a month. Intelligent Resourcing lists a $2,500 audit and two retainer tiers that start at $3,200 and $3,700 a month, plus GST. Uprise Digital, ADMATIC and Myoho Marketing list no rate on the pages we checked.
Can an in-house marketing coordinator run AEO without an agency?
Partly. Fixing schema, credentials and entity data on your own site needs no agency, and ADMATIC sells AI search training for in-house teams. Ongoing prompt testing, citation building and monthly reporting across several AI platforms is where in-house teams tend to run short of time.
Does AEO work differently for a sole-discipline firm than a multi-discipline consultancy?
Yes. A sole-discipline practice usually needs entity and credential work first, which is a smaller scope. A full-service firm has more service lines and more tender history to structure. That is why ADMATIC's audit-first framework suits it better.
How long before an engineering consultancy sees a citation change?
Agencies give different figures, and none is independently verified. ADMATIC says 90 to 120 days for measurable gains after its first two phases. ONETOO says 3 to 6 months, with quick wins in 30 to 60 days. Ask each shortlisted agency for its timeline in writing.
