Best AEO Agencies for Accounting Firms (2026)
Key Facts

Accounting firms missing from ChatGPT and Google artificial intelligence (AI) answers lose enquiries to the few firms those answers name. A firm cited for tax can still be absent from self-managed super fund (SMSF) or audit answers. Seven agencies sell answer engine optimisation (AEO) to Australian accounting firms. They run from accounting-only MITCO Digital to AEO studios such as RankMeFirst. Only 4 publish a price.

TL;DR
  • Sector depth and AEO depth rarely sit together. The accounting-only agencies know your clients best. The AEO studios measure AI answers in the most detail.
  • Ask about professional conduct rules first. The APES 110 Code of Ethics bars members of the professional bodies from exaggerated marketing claims, and the agency writes in your name.
  • Test every service line on its own. A firm named for tax advice can still be missing from SMSF or audit answers.
  • Check the price before the pitch. Only 4 of the 7 agencies showed a price on the pages we checked.

The Verdict

MITCO Digital brings the deepest accounting record, with 150+ firms since 2018, and suits a firm that wants one team for its website, SEO and AI search. RankMeFirst is the cheapest way to start, from A$29 a month. A firm with 3 or more service lines should still hire a studio such as Intelligent Resourcing that tests each line in every engine, even though neither studio shows a named accounting client result yet.

Why Does AI Search Matter for Accounting Firms in 2026?

AI search matters because clients now ask ChatGPT and Google AI Mode to name an accountant, and the answer lists only a few firms. Choosing an accountant is a trust decision.

A buyer who sees 3 firms named has a shortlist before visiting any website. Firms left off that list never see the enquiry.

Two terms run through this list. Answer engine optimisation (AEO) shapes your pages so engines quote them as the answer. Generative engine optimisation (GEO) covers the wider signals that decide which firms an engine names.

This page narrows our broader business-to-business (B2B) shortlist of Australian AEO agencies to those that serve accountants.

What Should an Accounting Firm Test Before Hiring an AEO Agency?

The five tests an accounting firm should run before hiring an AEO agency
Run them in this order. Test 2 matters most, because the agency writes in your firm's name.

An accounting firm should test 5 things: accounting proof, conduct-rule knowledge, service-line coverage, cross-engine measurement and published pricing.

The professional conduct test matters most. An agency writing in your firm's name has to know the rule it is writing under.

#TestWhat good looks likeAsk the agency
1Accounting proofA dedicated accounting page, accounting clients or accounting researchWhich accounting firms have you worked with?
2Conduct-rule knowledgeAnswer pages that avoid exaggerated claims and unsupported comparisonsHow do your drafts stay inside APES 110?
3Service-line coverageTax, self-managed super fund (SMSF), audit and advisory tested as separate questionsCan I see results for each service line?
4Cross-engine measurementChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI answers all trackedWhich engines do you report on?
5Published pricingA price on the agency's own siteWhat does the first 3 months cost?

On test 2, section R115.2 of the APES 110 Code of Ethics, issued by the Accounting Professional and Ethical Standards Board, bars two things in marketing: exaggerated claims about a member's services, qualifications or experience, and disparaging references or unsubstantiated comparisons to the work of others.

On test 3, engines treat each service as its own question. Our guide to why accounting firms go missing shows why one test is never enough.

On test 4, ask for results from each engine separately. ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI answers can each name a different firm.

How we chose and ordered this list:

  • Search date: 6 October 2026, rechecked 9 October 2026, across Google and AI engines.
  • Kept: agencies whose own site shows AI search work for accountants.
  • Left out: agencies already profiled on our other AEO roundups and comparison pages.
  • Order: groups run from deepest accounting focus to deepest AEO focus. Inside each group, more accounting evidence ranks higher.
  • Our place: Intelligent Resourcing sits last because it has no published accounting client result yet.

Which Agencies Work Only With Accounting Firms?

Two agencies on this list work only with accounting firms: MITCO Digital and Scale CRM. Both put sector knowledge first and add AI search to an existing marketing or SEO offer.

They suit firms that want an agency that already speaks the language of business activity statement (BAS) season and client retention.

1. MITCO Digital

The longest accounting-only track record on this list.

MITCO Digital is a marketing agency for growing accounting firms, certified public accountants (CPAs) and bookkeepers. Its homepage sets out the facts below.

  • Track record: 150+ accounting firms since 2018.
  • Team: 15 people, supporting clients across the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia.
  • Services: AI search, SEO, websites, advertising and content. The site says many clients now get leads from ChatGPT and AI search.
  • Price: packages starting at US$1,000 a month.

Best for: a growing firm that wants one agency to run its website, SEO and AI search together.

Watch for: prices are in United States dollars, and we found no Australian office address on its homepage when we checked on 9 October 2026.

Published evidence: its homepage describes one client that went from zero online enquiries to being seen almost half a million times organically per month. The client is not named, and the result is described as organic search rather than AI answers.

The next agency is far smaller and works only in Australia.

2. Scale CRM

A small Sunshine Coast agency that does SEO only for Australian accounting firms.

Scale CRM's own site at scalecrm.co returned a 404 page when we checked on 9 October 2026, and scalecrm.com.au did not resolve. The detail below therefore comes from its GoodFirms listing, not from the agency.

  • Services: local SEO, Google Business Profile optimisation and accounting SEO audits.
  • Size: 2 to 9 staff, founded 2025 on the listing.
  • Price: $50 to $99 an hour.

Best for: a suburban practice whose first need is Google Maps visibility, with AI search as a later step.

Watch for: the listing puts generative engine optimisation at 5% of its focus, and the founding year appears on the listing only.

Published evidence: none found. The client portfolio on its listing names no accounting firms, and the listing showed no reviews. With the agency's own site down, a buyer is working from a directory entry rather than anything the firm publishes itself.

The next 3 agencies serve many industries but run a dedicated accounting AI search service.

Which Search Agencies Run a Dedicated Accounting AI Search Service?

Accounting-only agencies, search agencies and AEO studios compared on strength, AI work, price and trade-off
Three kinds of agency, three different trades. Sector depth and AEO depth rarely sit together.

Three search and marketing agencies run a dedicated accounting AI search service: Bring, Aura Search and Oceania Marketing Group.

Each has a page, guide or study written for accountants, and each sells AI search inside a wider SEO or marketing offer. They suit firms that want search and AI answers handled by one team.

3. Bring

The only agency here with published research on Australian accounting firms.

Bring is a Melbourne SEO agency based in Windsor. Its audit of 2,344 Victorian accounting firms, published 13 April 2026, is the core of its accounting offer.

  • What the audit checked: Google Business Profile activity, search rankings, AI discoverability and lead capture.
  • Headline finding: Bring reports that not a single one of the 2,344 firms was discoverable through AI search platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity.
  • Other findings: about 20% of the firms had no website, and about 70% had fewer than 10 Google reviews.

Best for: a Victorian firm that wants its local search gaps fixed alongside AI search.

Watch for: the audit's full method sits in a report available on request, so the AI finding cannot be checked from the page itself. It is also research published by an agency that sells the fix.

Published evidence: the audit page points to a case study with an accounting firm, which Bring describes as built on local search rather than AI answers.

Aura Search focuses on Sydney.

4. Aura Search

AI search for Sydney accounting firms, measured as share of AI answers.

Aura Search publishes a page on AI SEO for Sydney accountants.

  • Method: moves firms from keyword targeting to entity mapping.
  • Measure: "Share of Model" across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews.
  • Registration signals: the page says large language models cross-reference site data against third-party registries including the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) and the Australian Taxation Office, and that it builds explicit links between a firm's partners, its TPB credentials and its services.

Best for: a Sydney firm that wants its AI answer share tracked as a single number.

Watch for: pricing and office details were not found on the pages we checked on 9 October 2026. Two market figures on the page, a 68% schema gap attributed to its own audits and a $15,100 client lifetime value, carry no published method.

Published evidence: no named accounting client result found on the pages checked. The page uses TPB registration as a signal engines verify, not as guidance on what the rules allow a firm to say.

Oceania Marketing Group comes at the same market through a written guide.

5. Oceania Marketing Group

A written guide to AI search for accountants, including what professional rules allow them to say.

Oceania Marketing Group is a Moreton Bay, Brisbane digital agency. Its accounting offer starts from a guide for accountants and bookkeepers, published 27 June 2026.

  • What the guide covers: how accounting firms get cited in AI answers, and a compliance section on what they can say.
  • Which rules it names: the Tax Practitioners Board for registered tax and BAS agents, plus CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants ANZ and the Institute of Public Accountants.
  • Delivery: AI search work sits inside a wider marketing plan rather than a stand-alone AEO product.

Best for: a Brisbane or Moreton Bay firm that wants its AI search work grounded in what its professional rules allow.

Watch for: the accounting material is a blog guide, not a dedicated service page, and no price was found on the pages we checked on 9 October 2026.

Published evidence: no accounting case study found on the pages checked. Of the 7 agencies, this is the one whose published accounting material deals most directly with professional conduct rules.

The last 2 entries lead with AI search itself.

Which AEO and GEO Studios Take On Accounting Firms?

Two studios on this list lead with AI search rather than SEO: RankMeFirst and Intelligent Resourcing.

Both measure which engines name a business and build pages for the gaps. Neither shows a named accounting client result, so firms trade sector proof for deeper AI measurement.

6. RankMeFirst

A Melbourne GEO studio with a self-serve audit from A$29 a month.

RankMeFirst is a Melbourne GEO agency with a page for accounting practices.

  • Who it serves: tax accountants, BAS agents, SMSF specialists and bookkeepers.
  • Key signal it works on: consistent firm details across accounting body directories, naming the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the CPA Australia directory.
  • Price: its pricing lists a free scan, then A$29, A$97 and A$397 a month, with no lock-in contracts.

Best for: a small practice that wants to watch its AI visibility before paying for managed work.

Watch for: its homepage claims "3x More AI Citations" and "500+ Audits Run" with no method shown. Accounting is one of several sectors it serves.

Published evidence: no named accounting result found on the pages checked. The free scan is the cheapest way on this list to see your own position before you buy anything.

Intelligent Resourcing takes the managed end of the same model.

7. Intelligent Resourcing

Citation tracking by engine and by service line, with published prices.

Intelligent Resourcing is a Melbourne B2B agency. Its AEO work runs in 3 steps.

  • Map: the questions buyers ask about each service line.
  • Test: which engines name the firm for each line.
  • Build: answer pages for the gaps.
  • Price: a A$2,500 one-off Strategic Blueprint audit, then Cited-Core from A$3,200 a month for roughly 16 assets or Cited-Scale from A$3,700 for roughly 24, in Australian dollars plus goods and services tax (GST).

Best for: a multi-partner firm with 3 or more service lines that wants each line measured.

Watch for: no accounting client result is published yet. The work covers content and AI answers only, not ads or websites.

Published evidence: none published for accounting firms yet. What exists is our own accounting research, which treats SMSF as its own service line.

How Do the 7 Agencies Compare on Price and Proof?

Seven AEO agencies for accounting firms compared on published accounting proof and published price
Checked on their own pages and listings, 6 October 2026, rechecked 9 October 2026.

The 7 agencies split on 2 lines: how much accounting proof they show, and whether they publish a price.

MITCO Digital shows the most accounting proof. RankMeFirst and Intelligent Resourcing show the most detailed AI measurement. Four agencies publish prices on their own pages or listings, starting at A$29 a month.

Which Agency Matches a Sole Practitioner, a Mid-Tier Firm or a Specialist?

The right agency depends on firm size and service mix more than on agency size.

Sole practitioners suit a self-serve audit or a Maps-first agency. Mid-tier firms with several service lines suit managed tracking by line. Specialists suit an agency that already writes for their niche.

Sole Practitioner or Suburban Practice

  • Start with RankMeFirst's free scan.
  • Fix your Google Business Profile first.
  • Then pay for managed AI work.

Multi-Partner Firm With 3 or More Service Lines

Choose an agency that tests each line separately. Ask for results by service line, not one blended score, and check which of your credentials an engine can verify.

This matters most for firms with business clients. Responsive's October 2025 survey of 350 business-to-business buyers found generative AI had overtaken traditional search for about a quarter of them when researching vendors.

SMSF, Tax or Advisory Specialist

Look for an agency that names your niche on its own site. RankMeFirst names SMSF specialists and BAS agents. MITCO Digital works only with accounting firms.

Firm With an SEO Provider Already in Place

Ask your current provider for a cross-engine AI report before you switch. If it cannot produce one, Bring folds AI search into the SEO work you already run.

What Changes When a Referral-Led Firm Adds AI Search?

A referral-led accounting website compared with one built for AI search, and the rules that apply to each
Each answer page is public advertising, so two sets of rules apply instead of one.

A referral-led firm that adds AI search starts publishing answers, not just a brochure site. Each answer page becomes public advertising for the practice.

That means 2 sets of rules apply: the Australian Consumer Law and APES 110. The firm needs proof for anything it says about results or expertise.

Fewer readers click through, too. Pew Research Center analysed 68,879 Google searches by about 900 United States adults in March 2025. It found users clicked a result 8% of the time when an AI summary appeared, against 15% when one did not.

That is an association rather than proof of cause, and it covers United States users, not Australian ones. The answer itself still has to carry the firm's case.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission sets 2 tests for every page your agency drafts. Be ready to prove what the page says. Treat any claim about a rival firm as needing evidence, because comparison advertising can mislead.

Keep referrals running. AI answers add a second source of enquiries, not a replacement for partner networks.

Which Accounting Firm Suits Each Agency, in One Line?

Each agency suits a different firm, and the match comes down to size, location and service mix.

  • MITCO Digital suits a growing firm that wants an accounting-only team running AI search, SEO and its website.
  • Scale CRM suits a suburban practice that needs Google Maps visibility first and AI search later.
  • Bring suits a Victorian firm that wants the local gaps its 2,344-firm audit found fixed first.
  • Aura Search suits a Sydney firm that wants one AI answer share figure to track.
  • Oceania Marketing Group suits a Brisbane firm that wants AI search work shaped by what its professional rules allow.
  • RankMeFirst suits a small practice that wants to watch AI visibility from A$29 a month before buying managed work.
  • Intelligent Resourcing suits a firm with 3 or more service lines that wants each one measured across engines.

Whichever agency you pick, ask it to match your tax and BAS agent names and registration numbers to the TPB public register. Matching details give engines one consistent record to check. Our checklist for accounting firm websites covers where those details belong.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

Which AEO agencies for accounting firms publish their prices?

Four of the 7 publish prices on their own pages or listings. RankMeFirst starts at A$29 a month after a free scan, MITCO Digital starts at US$1,000 a month, and Intelligent Resourcing lists a A$2,500 audit then from A$3,200 a month plus GST. Scale CRM's GoodFirms listing shows $50 to $99 an hour. No price was found for Bring, Aura Search or Oceania Marketing Group.

Can AI search content breach an accountant's ethics rules?

Yes, if it makes exaggerated claims or unsupported comparisons. APES 110 bars members from both when marketing, and the Australian Consumer Law applies to every advertising claim. The firm stays responsible for pages published in its name, so review agency drafts before they go live.

Should an accounting firm hire an accounting-only agency or an AEO specialist?

Choose by your main gap. An accounting-only agency brings sector knowledge and client language. An AEO studio brings deeper tracking of which engines name you for each service. Firms with several service lines usually gain more from the tracking.

Which AEO agencies name SMSF specialists on their own site?

Of the 7, only RankMeFirst's accountants page names SMSF work, alongside tax, BAS and bookkeeping, checked 9 October 2026. Intelligent Resourcing's accounting research treats SMSF as its own service line. The other 5 describe accounting firms in general, so an SMSF specialist should ask each one for SMSF-specific results.

How were the agencies on this list chosen?

We searched Google and asked AI engines for AEO agencies for accounting firms on 6 October 2026, then rechecked every claim on 9 October 2026. We kept agencies whose own site shows AI search work for accountants and left out agencies already profiled on our other AEO roundups. Intelligent Resourcing wrote this list, so it placed itself last by the same method.
